Siena Tales was born far from home.
En 2022, nuestra familia se mudó por trabajo a Arabia Saudita. Siena tenía apenas dos años y, en muy poco tiempo, empezó a hablar más inglés que español.
In 2022, our family moved to Saudi Arabia for work. Siena was barely two years old, and very quickly she started speaking more English than Spanish.
Aprender otra lengua era un regalo. Pero, como mamá argentina viviendo afuera, empecé a sentir algo difícil de explicar: era como si su mundo se estuviera cableando en otro idioma.
Learning another language was a gift. But as an Argentine mother living abroad, I began to feel something hard to explain: it was as if her world was being wired in another language.
Todas las noches leíamos cuentos antes de dormir.
Every night we read stories before bed.
A veces estaban en inglés y yo los traducía al español. Otras veces estaban en español y los llevaba al inglés. Pero mientras traducía, sentía que algo se perdía: la música, el ritmo, la emoción con la que una historia acompaña a un niño hasta quedarse dormido.
Sometimes they were in English and I translated them into Spanish. Other times they were in Spanish and I carried them into English. But while translating, I felt something was being lost: the music, the rhythm, the emotion with which a story carries a child to sleep.
Entonces empecé a escribir los nuestros.
So I started writing our own.
Historias que pudieran nacer, desde el principio, en los dos idiomas que estaban construyendo la infancia de Siena.
Stories that could be born, from the very beginning, in the two languages that were shaping Siena's childhood.
Así nació Siena Tales.
That is how Siena Tales was born.
Para recordarle, en cada cuento, que podía ir tan lejos como quisiera, aprender todos los idiomas que existieran y vivir en cualquier lugar del mundo.
Porque algo siempre iba a viajar con ella: las raíces que la construyeron.
To remind her, in every story, that she could go as far as she wanted, learn every language there is, and live anywhere in the world.
Because something would always travel with her: the roots that shaped her.
